HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lance
4Corporal James Bray Stack who gave his life in service of our
5Nation on November 10, 2010, in the Sangin District of Helmand
6Province, Afghanistan; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Bray Stack was born July 11,
81990 in Schaumburg, the son of Robert Bruce Stack and Linda
9Lorraine (nee Bray) Stack; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Bray Stack was home-schooled
11with the Christian Liberty Academy at Arlington Heights
12curriculum, played soccer with Christian Liberty Academy, was
13named Most Valuable Player on the school's track team, and met
14his future wife, Katelyn "Kate" Landeweer, at the Academy; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Bray Stack was a rifleman
16(0311) assigned to India Company (2nd Platoon) of the Darkhorse
173/5 Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force,
18based in Camp Pendleton, California; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Bray Stack's awards for
20personal service include the Purple Heart, the Combat Action
21Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on

1Terrorism Medal, and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal; and
 
2    WHEREAS, United States and Illinois State flags throughout
3the State will fly at half-staff from November 18-20, 2010, as
4a symbol of mourning and honor for the sacrifice of Lance
5Corporal James Bray Stack; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Bray Stack will be remembered
7for faith in Christ, love of country, generous spirit,
8patriotism, and love for his family and friends; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lance Corporal James Bray Stack is survived by his
10wife, Kate; his 1-year-old daughter; Mikayla; his parents,
11Robert and Linda Stack; his sister, Megan Lorraine Stack; his
12grandparents, Jo Ann Stack and Gene Bray; his mother-in-law,
13Dawn (Tom) Hedrick; his sister-in-law, Joanne Savage; Katie's
14grandmother, Eleanor Savage; and his father-in-law, Michael
15Landeweer; as well as his fellow soldiers and the citizens of a
16grateful nation; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Lance
20Corporal James Bray Stack; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Lance Corporal James

1Bray Stack and his willingness to serve his country, which led
2to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Lance Corporal James Bray Stack as a
