HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Verna E.
4Horstman of Belleville, who passed away on October 17, 2010;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Verna Horstman was employed as a Juvenile Officer
7for the Belleville Police Department and the City of
8Belleville; she also worked as a fraud investigator for William
9C. Scott and as a secretary for School District #189 in East
10St. Louis; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Verna Horstman was a member of St. George
12Episcopal Church; she served as a volunteer at Memorial
13Hospital; she was also an avid Republican and a member of the
14Republican Women's Club; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Verna Horstman was preceded in death by her
16husband, William P. Horstman; her parents, Jesse C. and Mary
17P., nee Mayer, Nichols; her brothers, Bill Nichols, Jesse "Jit"
18Nichols, and Raymond Nichols; and her first husband, Eugene P.
19Clayton; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Verna Horstman is survived by her children, Thomas
21Clayton, Jana Riggins, Michael Horstman, James (Sue) Horstman,

1and Patrick (Denie) Horstman; her 7 grandchildren; her 5
2great-grandchildren; her nieces, Nancy Cox and Sally Reiss; and
3her sister-in-law, Betty Horstman; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Verna
7E. Horstman; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Verna Horstman as an expression of
10our sympathy.
