HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Northeast DuPage Special Recreation
3Association (NEDSRA) was formed in 1976, through the vision of
4the partners, to provide the same variety of recreation
5services for those with disabilities as the services available
6to the general public; and
 
7    WHEREAS, From humble beginnings in 1977, when the first
8summer day camp was offered, NEDSRA now provides more than 600
9programs and services to more than 4,000 separate individuals;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, After more than 33 years of dedicated service,
12Executive Director Larry Reiner is retiring as the leader of
13NEDSRA on November 5, 2010; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Over the past three to four decades, the public
15has increasingly come to better understand and embrace people
16with disabilities, and as this understanding has grown, so has
17the need for special parks and recreation services; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Larry thrived on this challenge, and under his
19direction, NEDSRA has become one of the country's best agencies
20at providing parks and recreation programs and services to
21individuals with a special need; and

1    WHEREAS, NEDSRA has received numerous State and national
2awards, twice receiving the National Gold Medal for Excellence
3in Park and Recreation Management; and
 
4    WHEREAS, NEDSRA is financially sound, and due to Larry's
5excellent leadership and passion for making NEDSRA the best it
6can be, the agency's programs, services, and staff are strong;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Thanks to the steadfast support of the
9Association's member agencies, participants, parents, friends,
10and families, other individuals, local and State
11organizations, and Larry and the dedicated NEDSRA staff, the
12agency has grown and prospered over the years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The NEDSRA Board and Staff will be celebrating
14Larry's legacy on October 20, 2010 at the Medinah Shrine Center
15in Addison; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Larry's vision and dedication to people with
17disabilities has been second to none throughout his remarkable
18career; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

1wish Larry Reiner well in his retirement and thank him for his
2many years of dedicated service to the NEDSRA family; and be it

4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to Larry Reiner with our gratitude and esteem.
