HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Judy Tucker was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on
3September 1, 1943; while raising her children, Judy attended
4Victor Business School in Evergreen Park; after graduation,
5Judy became affiliated with the WIN Program (Work Initiative
6Program) where she acquired employment as an Intern with the
7United States House of Representatives, the Honorable
8Congressman Ralph Metcalfe Sr.; and
 
9    WHEREAS, After the one year completion of the internship
10through WIN, and the culmination of her internship with the
11United States House of Representatives, Congressman Metcalfe
12wrote the director of WIN regarding Judy; his letter resulted
13in her employment as the Executive Secretary to Committeeman
14Metcalfe Sr. in the Third Ward Regular Democratic Organization
15from 1972 to 1975; she also served as the U.S. Congressional
16Aide to Congressman Metcalfe from 1976 until his death in
17October 1978; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Continuing the legacy, she served as Executive
19Secretary/Office Manager to Ralph Metcalfe Jr., candidate for
20Alderman of the Third Ward Regular Democratic Organization from
211978 to 1980; she worked for the City of Chicago Commission on
22Human Relations from 1980 to 1982; she worked for Alderman
23Tyrone Kenner as the Secretary of Public Utilities from 1982 to

11983 and the Secretary of Committee on Finance from 1983 to
21985; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Alderman Bobby Rush recommended Judy for the
4position of Office Manager to Commissioner Jerry Butler during
5Butler's successfully candidacy for Cook County Commissioner
6from 1985 to 1986; Alderman Rush extended an offer to her to
7serve as his Executive Secretary in the Second Ward Regular
8Democratic Organization in 1986; since his elevation to U.S
9Congressman of the First Congressional District in 1992, she
10has held several key positions under him, most notably in her
11current position as the Director of Constituent Services; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In the role of Director of Constituent Services,
13she has successfully developed valuable working relationships
14with many constituents both on the governmental and main street
15levels and has proven to be a great asset in this role; during
16her 38-year career she has had the pleasure of working for
17Congressman Rush for 24 years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Judy has been married to Elishious Tucker for 38
19years and they reside in Chicago; she is a faithful member of
20the Miracle House of Prayer Church in Chicago, under the
21leadership of Pastor Dwight Craig; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Judy is an outstanding cook, an immaculate

1homemaker, and enjoys gardening; she is a pillar in the
2community and has very strong family values and is very
3passionate about her family, friends, colleagues, and
4acquaintances; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7congratulate Judy Tucker on her long and exciting career and
8wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Judy Tucker as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
