HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor Pastor Joseph Johnson, of
4the Star of Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church in Peoria, on the
5occasion of his 75th birthday; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bishop Joseph H. Johnson has been pastoring the
7Star of Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church in Peoria for 43 years;
8he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Theology from Chicago
9Baptist Institute of Theology; and
 
10    WHEREAS, He served as the assistant pastor of Liberty
11Baptist Church in Chicago, under the leadership of Pastor
12Parker, after completing his studies; he later returned to his
13home church, the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in
14Peoria, under the leadership of late Pastor Calvin Hightower;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, He completed Pre-Law graduate studies at South Cal
17and in Minneapolis, Minnesota; he dedicated 35 years to the
18Juvenile Court Service of Peoria County, starting as a juvenile
19probation officer, and retiring as the director of Juvenile
20Court after 33 years in that position; and
 
21    WHEREAS, While pastoring and working at juvenile court, he

1raised 2 sons, Joel and John, and 18 foster sons; he is also
2blessed with a daughter, Jehan Alea; and
 
3    WHEREAS, He has 24 sons and daughters of the ministry
4serving as pastors and missionaries throughout the United
5States; under his leadership, the ministry of Star Hope has and
6continues to support missionaries in Africa and
7Trinidad-Tobago; during his pastorate, the ministry has paid
8off 2 buildings and an expansion without having to resort to
9the traditional fundraising; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12wish Pastor Johnson a great birthday celebration this year and
13for years to come; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Pastor Joseph Johnson as a symbol of our respect
16and esteem.
