HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate C. Edward Way of
4 East St. Louis on his retirement from the Brotherhood of
5 Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen Illinois State Legislative
6 Board; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He was born on March 15, 1945 in East St. Louis;
8 he attended East Side High School; he served in the United
9 States Air Force as an Military Policemen during the Vietnam
10 War and was honorably discharged in 1968; and
 
11     WHEREAS, C. Edward Way and his wife, Mary Kay, were married
12 in September of 1968; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He worked at ADT from 1968 to 1969, and was a
14 member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
15 Local 1; he hired out on the Gulf, Mobile, and Ohio (GM&O)
16 Railroad in July of 1969 as a trainman; and in December of 1969
17 he went into engine service as a fireman; and
 
18     WHEREAS, The GM&O merged with the Illinois Central in 1972
19 and Ed was promoted to Locomotive Engineer in 1973; and he
20 served the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Division 444 as
21 Secretary-Treasurer in 1973; and

1     WHEREAS, In 1978, he served as Vice Local Chairman and
2 Legislative Representative of the Brotherhood of Locomotive
3 Engineers Division 512; in 1996, he served as Local Chairman of
4 the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Division 512; and from
5 1996 to 2010, he served as Chairman of the Brotherhood of
6 Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen Illinois State Legislative
7 Board; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mr. Way and his wife are the proud parents of
9 Jason, Scott, Shannon, and Erin; and the doting grandparents of
10 Zachary, Paige, Marley, Sullivan, Mathias, Dorothy, Mark,
11 Maiya, Patricia, and Lorelie; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14 congratulate C. Edward Way on his retirement and wish him the
15 best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to C. Edward Way as a symbol of our respect and
18 esteem.
