HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Walter E.
4 Skilbeck of Springfield, who passed away on March 15, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Walter Evans Skilbeck was born November 4, 1916,
6 in Trenton to Fred and Grace Hill Skilbeck; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He married Juanita Ora Fricke on October 5, 1966;
8 following high school Walter served his country in the United
9 States Army as a PFC in Company E, 17th Regiment, Seventh
10 Infantry Division, during World War II; he was awarded 4 Bronze
11 Stars and a Purple Heart for campaigns in the South
12 Philippines, Ryukyus, and the Aleutian Islands; h was wounded
13 in Leyte, on December 25, 1944, and Okinawa on April 23, 1945;
14 and
 
15     WHEREAS, After he returned home from serving his country,
16 he was a bus driver with Springfield Mass Transit, a mail
17 carrier for the United States Postal Service for 16 years
18 before retiring in 1980, and a paper carrier for The State
19 Journal-Register; he was a member of Calvary Temple Christian
20 Center; and
 
21     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife;

1 his brothers, Howard and Carl; and his sisters, Eva, Goldie,
2 and Nelda; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Walter Skilbeck is survived by his stepson,
4 Russell (wife, Linda) Dickerson; his son, David Skilbeck; his
5 brother-in-law, Frank Montalbano; his sister-in-law, Ruby
6 Skilbeck; his step-grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew; and
7 several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and
8 nephews; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Walter
12 Skilbeck; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Walter Skilbeck as a symbol of our
15 sincere sympathy.
