HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Craig Hentrich on
4 the occasion of his retirement after 17 seasons in the NFL; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Craig Hentrich grew up in Godfrey and attended
6 Alton Marquette High School; during high school, he lettered 4
7 times in football and baseball and once in basketball; in
8 football, he served as a kicker, punter, safety, and
9 quarterback and was an All-America selection by Parade,
10 SuperPrep, and USA Today; he punted 98 times for a 42.7 yard
11 average for the Explorers and set the State record with 26
12 career field goals on 44 attempts; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Craig Hentrich lettered for 4 years at Notre Dame
14 from 1989 to 1992, serving as both the placekicker and punter
15 on Notre Dame's football team while pursuing a degree in
16 management information systems; he finished his career with a
17 school-record 44.1-yard punting average, 39 career field goals
18 on 56 attempts, 294 points (2nd all-time leading scorer), and
19 made a record 98.3% of his PAT attempts; he also earned an
20 honorable mention All-America selection by Football News as a
21 punter during each of his last 3 seasons; and
 
22     WHEREAS, Craig Hentrich was an eighth-round NFL draft pick

1 out of Notre Dame in 1993; he played with the Green Bay Packers
2 when they won Super Bowl XXXI; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Craig Hentrich spent the past 12 seasons playing
4 for the Tennessee Titans; he averaged 42.9 yards per punt on
5 1,150 attempts during his career; he was with the Titans when
6 they played in Super Bowl XXXIV; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Craig Hentrich was picked to play in the Pro Bowl
8 in 1998 and 2003; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Craig Hentrich regularly participates in charity
10 golf tournaments, including his own annual event in Alton,
11 which has benefited the Boys and Girls Club for 15 consecutive
12 years; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Craig Hentrich serves as a model of hard work,
14 integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
15 Illinois; therefore, be it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18 congratulate Craig Hentrich on the occasion of his retirement
19 and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it
