HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of John J.
4 "Jack" Thelen of Antioch, who passed away on February 21, 2010;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, He was born May 25, 1950, in Woodstock, the son of
7 Verner and Mary Ann "Bunny"(nee Stoffel) Thelen; he had resided
8 in Pistakee Highlands and Spring Grove before settling in
9 Antioch; On January 20, 1973, he married Deborah Nesbit in St.
10 Louis, Missouri; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He was a member of St. Peter Church of Antioch,
12 past board member and past president of the Antioch Chamber of
13 Commerce, member and Paul Harris Fellow of the Antioch Rotary
14 Club, and member of the Northern Illinois Ready Mix & Materials
15 Association, Illinois Ready Mixed Concrete, and Wisconsin
16 Ready Mix Concrete Associations, the Boy Scouts of America
17 Troop #92 of Antioch, the Northern Illinois Shooters
18 Association and the Big Foot Archers, and a board member of the
19 State Bank of the Lakes for 21 years; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Since 1963 he was a co-owner of Thelen Sand &
21 Gravel; and

1     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Vern
2 Thelen; and a brother-in-law, Ross Berry; and
 
3     WHEREAS, He was the husband for 37 years of Debbie; the
4 father of John R. (Tami), Jessica M. Thelen, and Jennifer
5 (Patrick) Barton; the son of Mary Ann "Bunny" Thelen; the
6 grandfather of Taylor Kae, Jacob T., and Kylie E. Thelen and
7 Grace K. Barton; the brother of Mary Beth (Bob) Varak, Sue
8 (Warren) Schumacher, Tom (Paige) Thelen, Pete (Terry Childers)
9 Thelen, Steve (Diana) Thelen, Ann (Mark) Kroupa, Barb (Mark)
10 Miller, and Peg (Tom) Miles; the grandson of his maternal
11 grandparents, the late Jacob E. (Matilda) Stoffel, and his
12 paternal grandparents, the late John J. (Agatha) Thelen; the
13 son-in-law of Robert C. (Dorothy J.) Nesbit; and the
14 brother-in-law of Cyndi Parazak, Karen (Dan) Spalding, and Kim
15 (Gary) Martin and their families; therefore, be it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John
19 J. "Jack" Thelen; and be it further
 
20     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to the family of John J. "Jack" Thelen as a symbol of
22 our sincere sympathy.
