HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of John
4 Andrew Gianulis of Andalusia, who passed away on February 8,
5 2010; and
 
6     WHEREAS, John Gianulis was born in Rock Island on October
7 5, 1922, to Meta and Andrew Gianulis; and
 
8     WHEREAS, John Gianulis graduated from the former St.
9 Ambrose Academy in Davenport, Iowa; he served as Rock Island
10 County Clerk and worked for the State of Illinois for more than
11 50 years; and
 
12     WHEREAS, John Gianulis served his country with honor as a
13 member of the United States Navy during World War II and the
14 Korean War; and
 
15     WHEREAS, John Gianulis will be remembered as a smart and
16 dedicated leader and a hard worker who fought for the
17 principles of the Democratic Party; he is credited with helping
18 to elect numerous Democrats to office in Rock Island County; he
19 gained the respect and friendship of many throughout his
20 lifetime; and

1     WHEREAS, John Gianulis served with distinction in several
2 political positions; he served as president of the Illinois
3 Democratic County Chairmen's Association; he was a member of
4 the Democratic State Central Committee; he served as chairman
5 of the Rock Island Democratic Party for 40 years; he also
6 worked to bring together a coalition of party faithful and
7 citizens of Rock Island County communities for the public good;
8 and
 
9     WHEREAS, John Gianulis raised and showed horses as a young
10 man; he loved living the country life on his farm; and
 
11     WHEREAS, John Gianulis is survived by his loving wife of 64
12 years, Mary Jane; his son, Andrew; his daughters, Sara "Sally"
13 Gianulis and Marty Cordero; and his many grandchildren and
14 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
15     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
17 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John
18 Gianulis; and be it further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to the family of John Gianulis as an expression of
21 our sympathy.
