HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Terrence Bourke
4 O'Reilly on his retirement as Assistant Principal of Robert
5 Emmet Academy in the Chicago Public Schools; and
 
6     WHEREAS, He received his Associate of Arts degree from
7 Grossmont College, his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Education
8 at Lewis University, and his Master of Science in Educational
9 Administration from Northern Illinois University; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He has served as Assistant Principal of Robert
11 Emmet Academy from 1995 to 2009; from 1990 to 1995 he was the
12 Intensive Reading Improvement Program Resource Teacher; from
13 1980 to 1990 he was a 7th and 8th grade teacher in Reading and
14 Social Studies at Emmet Academy; and from 1974 to 1980 he
15 served as an elementary school teacher at Brownell, Grant, Van
16 Vlissingen, Sherman, and Seward Elementary Schools in various
17 positions; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He has taken leadership training in programs as
19 varied as "Taking Stock of Yourself as an Instructional
20 Leader", "Shaping Your School's Culture to Improve Learning",
21 and "Creating Successful Schools Through Results-Driven
22 Professional Development"; and

1     WHEREAS, He has taken instruction through the Illinois
2 Administrators Academy in classes such as: Introduction to the
3 Evaluation of Certified Staff, Effective Remedation Plan,
4 Evaluation of Ancillary Staff, Making Teacher Conferences More
5 Effective, and Data Driven Decision Making; and
 
6     WHEREAS, As Assistant Principal, he developed and
7 articulated a shared vision for the academy, assisted in the
8 daily operation of the school, assessed the quality of
9 classroom instruction, and coordinated the summer school
10 program; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He will enjoy his retirement along with his wife,
12 Linda; their son, Timothy and his wife, Meri, and their son,
13 Jameson; and their sons Ryan and Sean; therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16 congratulate Terrence O'Reilly and wish him the best in all his
17 future endeavors; and be it further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to Terrence O'Reilly as a symbol of our respect and
20 esteem.
