HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, John Selke will be inducted into the Illinois
3 Athletic Directors' Association (IADA) Hall of Fame on
4 Saturday, May 2, 2009 in Springfield; and
 
5     WHEREAS, The Illinois Athletic Directors' Hall of Fame is
6 dedicated to all the men and women who through their efforts
7 have made interscholastic athletics a positive experience for
8 young men and women; and
 
9     WHEREAS, The work of the athletic director has brought
10 honor to themselves, their school, community, and the Illinois
11 Athletic Directors' Association; and
 
12     WHEREAS, The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize
13 and honor the great athletic directors who have brought fame to
14 the Illinois Athletic Directors' Association, established in
15 the hearts of youth a motivating influence to excel in
16 athletics, and fostered pride, preserved good sportsmanship,
17 scholarship, and citizenship in schools and communities; and
 
18     WHEREAS, John Selke resided in Hoffman Estates with his
19 family from 1968 until 1989 when he moved to Schaumburg; and
 
20     WHEREAS, John Selke has worked in Schaumburg-Palatine

1 School District 211 for 34 years as a teacher, coach, and
2 administrator; and
 
3     WHEREAS, During his tenure as Athletic Director he helped
4 bring seven State Championships and nine State placements to
5 the school district; and
 
6     WHEREAS, John Selke has acquired many honors through the
7 years, including being named the Illinois State Athletic
8 Director of the Year in 2005; and
 
9     WHEREAS, John Selke has served the Village of Schaumburg by
10 volunteering for the Millennium Ball and the Village of
11 Schaumburg 50th Anniversary Celebration Committees, the
12 Schaumburg Township Sesquicentennial Committee, the Rotary
13 Club of Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates, the Knights of
14 Columbus, and serving as Chair of the Schaumburg High School
15 Committee, that brought long-awaited lights to the stadium;
16 therefore, be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19 congratulate John Selke on his achievements and wish him the
20 best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
 
21     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
