HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Harry
4 W. Jensen, DC, who passed away on January 21, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Harry Jensen, DC, was born on May 20, 1929 in
6 Chicago; he was the child of Harry T. and Hattie L. Jensen; he
7 married Joan Pauline Bowers in 1955; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Harry Jensen, DC, received his education in
9 Chicago at Carl Schurz High School, where he enjoyed athletics,
10 including football and wrestling; a neck injury brought the
11 benefits of chiropractic care to his attention, which, in turn,
12 caused him to enroll at the National College of Chiropractic,
13 where he received his degree as a Doctor of Chiropractic and
14 Naturopathy in 1951; Dr. Jensen was a board certified Diplomat
15 of the American Board of Chiropractic Internists (DABCI); and
 
16     WHEREAS, Dr. Harry Jensen generously served his country and
17 community; he proudly served in the Illinois National Guard
18 with the 33rd Division, 132nd Infantry Regiment Medical Company
19 from 1950 to 1956; he was active in the Sterling-Rock Falls
20 Jaycees, serving as President in 1963; he was an active member
21 of the Sterling Rotary since 1972 and served on the Board of
22 Directors of the Sterling Chamber of Commerce from 1978 to

1 1980; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Harry Jensen, DC, worked to improve the
3 chiropractic profession; he was a member of the American
4 Chiropractic Association since 1951 and a member of the
5 Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research since 1971;
6 Dr. Jensen was a member of the Council on Diagnostic Imaging,
7 the Council on Chiropractic Orthopedics, and the Council on
8 Internal Diagnosis and Family Practice; Dr. Jensen was a member
9 of the Illinois Chiropractic Society Board of Directors for 17
10 years and served as the organization's President for two terms
11 in 1975 and 1976; Dr. Jensen was elected Illinois Chiropractor
12 of the Year in 1978; he practiced in Illinois from 1951 until
13 his retirement on December 23, 2008; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Harry Jensen devoted his time to a higher cause;
15 he served two three year terms on the St. Paul Lutheran Church
16 Council from 1962-1964 and from 1975-1977, also serving as
17 President of the church council in 1964 and 1977 and later as
18 the church council's Treasurer in 1990; he also taught Sunday
19 school at St. Paul's for 17 years; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Dr. Harry Jensen is survived by his wife, Joan
21 Pauline Jensen; their six children and twenty grandchildren and
22 one great-grandchild, including Julie (William) Yemm and their
23 children Elizabeth (Christopher) Coon, Paul, Christina, Steve,

1 and Allie; Linda (Robert) Jennings and their children Robby,
2 Samantha, and Dana; Thomas (Michelle) and their children Gavin,
3 Elliot, and Alena; Joan (Jeff) March and their children Morgan
4 and Anjelica; William (Barbara Jean) and their children William
5 David and Theresa Ann, and William David's son, William Eason;
6 and Karen (Andrew) Langsam and their children Christina, Luke,
7 Grace, Joshua, and Caroline; he is also survived by his sister,
8 Marilyn Thomas, and her children; his cousins, Betty, Jeri,
9 Jackie, and Diana; and his many other relatives; therefore, be
10 it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr.
14 Harry W. Jensen, DC; and be it further
 
15     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to the family of Dr. Harry W. Jensen as an expression
17 of our sympathy.
