HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members and
4 coaches of the Sacred Heart-Griffin High School football team
5 on the occasion of winning the Class 6A football championship;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, Following their first game, in which the team
8 narrowly lost to Lombard Montini, the Sacred Heart-Griffin High
9 School football team reshaped their defense and hit their
10 opposition hard, beating all who stood in their path, including
11 Jacksonville (62-16), Lincoln (53-0), Lanphier (58-6), Chatham
12 Glenwood (24-3), Southeast (54-6), Taylorville (35-6),
13 Springfield High School (48-0), and Cahokia (53-24); and
 
14     WHEREAS, Following the team's defeat of Cahokia, the Sacred
15 Heart-Griffin High School football team proceeded to the Class
16 6A Playoffs, where the team's outstanding skills once again
17 crushed their competition, beating Chatham Glenwood (35-21),
18 Peoria Richwoods (48-21), Bloomington (32-12), and New Lenox
19 Providence Catholic (24-17); and
 
20     WHEREAS, Moving on to the finals, the Sacred Heart-Griffin
21 High School football team beat Lemont 37-15 on November 29,
22 2008 to win its third championship in the last four years; the

1 team ended their season with an outstanding 13-1 record; and
 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Sacred Heart-Griffin High
3 School football team serve as models of hard work, integrity,
4 and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois;
5 therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8 congratulate the members and coaches of the Sacred
9 Heart-Griffin High School football team on the occasion of
10 winning the Class 6A football championship and wish them
11 continued success and happiness in the future; and be it
12 further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to Sacred Heart-Griffin High School football head
15 coach Ken Leonard as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
