SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/10-22.20d new

    Amends the School Code. Provides that beginning July 1, 2010, school districts are not required to implement instructional mandates in the public schools. Provides that school districts shall be required to teach students to the standards required under specified provisions of the Code. Effective July 1, 2010.

1     AN ACT concerning education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
5 10-22.20d as follows:
 
6     (105 ILCS 5/10-22.20d new)
7     Sec. 10-22.20d. Implementation of instructional mandates.
8 Beginning July 1, 2010, school districts are not required to
9 implement instructional mandates in the public schools. For
10 purposes of this Section, "instructional mandate" means any
11 State law that requires a school district to devote any amount
12 of time to the instruction or engagement by students in any
13 subject or course. School districts shall be required to teach
14 students to the standards required under Section 2-3.64 of this
15 Code.
 
16     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
17 2010.
