SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
215 ILCS 106/7 new
215 ILCS 170/7 new
305 ILCS 5/1-12 new

    Amends the Children's Health Insurance Program Act, the Covering ALL KIDS Health Insurance Act, and the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that notwithstanding any other provision of any of those Acts to the contrary, the Department of Human Services or the Department of Healthcare and Family Services shall require an applicant for or recipient of benefits under any of those Acts to supply pay stubs covering at least a 30 day period for the purpose of determining the applicant's or recipient's income eligibility for those benefits. Further provides that if an applicant holds a seasonal job or does not have consistent pay stubs, he or she may have an employer fill out a verification form for income. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning State benefits.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Children's Health Insurance Program Act is
5 amended by adding Section 7 as follows:
 
6     (215 ILCS 106/7 new)
7     Sec. 7. Income verification. Notwithstanding any other
8 provision of this Act to the contrary, the Department of
9 Healthcare and Family Services shall require an applicant for
10 or recipient of benefits under this Act to supply pay stubs
11 covering at least a 30 day period for the purpose of
12 determining the applicant's or recipient's income eligibility
13 for those benefits. If an applicant holds a seasonal job or
14 does not have consistent pay stubs, he or she may have an
15 employer fill out a verification form for income.
 
16     Section 10. The Covering ALL KIDS Health Insurance Act is
17 amended by adding Section 7 as follows:

8 adding Section 1-12 as follows:
 
9     (305 ILCS 5/1-12 new)
10     Sec. 1-12. Income verification. Notwithstanding any other
11 provision of this Code to the contrary, the Department of Human
12 Services or the Department of Healthcare and Family Services
13 shall require an applicant for or recipient of benefits under
14 this Code to supply pay stubs covering at least a 30 day period
15 for the purpose of determining the applicant's or recipient's
16 income eligibility for those benefits. If an applicant holds a
17 seasonal job or does not have consistent pay stubs, he or she
18 may have an employer fill out a verification form for income.
 
19     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20 becoming law.
