AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2332

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2332, AS AMENDED, by
3 replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
4 following:
 
5     "Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing
6 Sections 50-5 and 50-15 as follows:
 
7     (60 ILCS 1/50-5)
8     Sec. 50-5. Time of election and terms outside Cook County.
9     (a) Except as provided for Cook County in Section 50-10,
10 and subject to the requirements of the general election law and
11 the referendum provisions in Sections 50-25 and 50-30, at the
12 time of the regular township election provided in the general
13 election law, there shall be elected one township collector.
14 Except as provided in subsection (a) of Section 50-15, the The
15 collector shall hold his or her office for a term of 4 years
16 and until a successor is elected and qualified.

1     (b) At the time of the regular township election provided
2 in the general election law, there shall be elected a township
3 supervisor. The supervisor shall be ex-officio supervisor of
4 general assistance. The supervisor shall hold office for a term
5 of 4 years and until a successor is elected and qualified.
6     (c) At the time of the regular township election provided
7 in the general election law, there shall be elected one
8 township clerk. The clerk shall hold office for a term of 4
9 years and until a successor is elected and qualified.
10     (d) At the time of the regular township election provided
11 in the general election law, there shall be elected by ballot
12 one township or multi-township assessor, as the case may be, in
13 the manner provided in the general election law. Except as
14 provided in subsection (c) of Section 50-15, the The assessor
15 shall hold office for a term of 4 years and until a successor
16 is elected and qualified.

19     Sec. 50-15. Time of entering upon duties.
20     (a) In all counties, the township collectors elected at the
21 township election shall enter upon their duties on January 1
22 next following their election and qualification until after the
23 first election following the effective date of this amendatory
24 Act of the 96th General Assembly.

1 at the first election following the effective date of this
2 amendatory Act of the 96th General Assembly shall begin on
3 January 1 next following his or her election and shall end on
4 the third Monday of May following the next election.
5 Thereafter, all township collectors shall serve a term of 4
6 years beginning on the third Monday of May following their
7 election.
8     (b) In all counties, township supervisors and township
9 clerks shall enter upon their duties on the third Monday of May
10 following their election.
11     (c) Beginning with elections in 1981 and through the
12 election immediately preceding the effective date of this
13 amendatory Act of the 96th General Assembly in all counties,
14 the township and multi-township assessors shall enter upon
15 their duties on January 1 next following their election.
16     In all counties, the term of the assessor or multi-township
17 assessor elected at the first election following the effective
18 date of this amendatory Act of the 96th General Assembly shall
19 begin on January 1 next following his or her election and shall
20 end on the third Monday of May following the next election.
21 Thereafter, all assessors or multi-township assessors shall
22 serve a term of 4 years beginning on the third Monday of May
23 following their election.
