SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Charles "Terry" Payne of Danville, who
4 passed away on October 30, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Charles "Terry" Payne was born October 19, 1936 to
6 Charles and Neva Payne; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Charles "Terry" Payne attended the Newman public
8 schools through the seventh grade, then moved to Paris,
9 Illinois with his family; he attended Paris schools and was
10 involved in many school activities, including Future Farmers of
11 America and football; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Charles "Terry" Payne retired from the Hyster
13 Company after 33 years of service and served as president of
14 the Independent Lift Truck Builders Union for several years;
15 and
 
16     WHEREAS, Charles "Terry" Payne was a member of the American
17 Shorthorn Association, where he received the "Breeder of the
18 Year" award in 2002 and was the Honoree of the Show at the
19 Illinois State Fair in 2008; his shorthorn cattle won several
20 championship ribbons during his family's 40 years of showing,
21 including Grand Champion Bull in 2008; and

1     WHEREAS, Charles "Terry" Payne served on many community
2 boards, including the Danville Area Community College Board,
3 the United Way Board, and the Vermilion County Fair Board,
4 where he served as President; he was also a charter member of
5 the first Labor Management Council in Danville; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Charles "Terry" Payne, in his heart, was always a
7 devoted farmer with a true love of the land and the cattle he
8 raised; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Charles "Terry" Payne is survived by his loving
10 wife, Dixie Wilson Payne; his daughter, Kathy Jackson; his
11 sons, Kevin (Linda) Payne, Kent (Sandy) Payne, Keith Payne, and
12 Kyle Payne; his grandchildren, Matt Payne, Amy Payne, Sammie
13 and Kellie Wilber, Dylan Payne, Chyann Cheesman, and Angie
14 Nichol; his sisters, Kay (John) Haddix, Rae (Alfred) Gher, and
15 Linda (Richard) Brown; and his many other family members and
16 friends; therefore, be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
18 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
19 his family and friends, the death of Charles "Terry" Payne; and
20 be it further
 
21     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
