SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of U.S. Army Specialist Ryan Michael Carper
4 of Sugar Grove, who passed away on August 7, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper was born on August 25, 1987
6 in Winfield; his parents were Michael and Bridget Carper; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper grew up in Batavia, where
8 he continually pursed his many varied interests over the years;
9 during grade school, he was active in the Cub Scouts and
10 Tri-Cities football and soccer; during middle school, he earned
11 money mowing yards and shoveling snow and was active in his
12 church youth group; he picked up a tennis racket for the first
13 time during his freshman year in high school, becoming a member
14 of the tennis team for all four years of high school; he then
15 attended the University of Illinois and was a member of the Pi
16 Lambda Phi fraternity; he was a good student and perpetually on
17 the honor roll during his time in school; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper was employed at In The Swim
19 in West Chicago; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper joined the Illinois
21 National Guard (Army Infantry) and served for three years,

1 attaining the rank of Specialist; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper was preceded in death by
3 his grandfather, William Carper; his uncle, Donald Tucker; and
4 his uncle, Stephen Carper; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper is survived by his parents;
6 his sister, Jessica; his grandmother and step-grandfather,
7 Dale and Florence Lint; his grandparents, Donald and June
8 Tucker; and his many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper will be remembered by all
10 who knew and loved him as a loving and caring young man with a
11 great sense of humor and whose sense of pride and duty in
12 serving his country was unmatched; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 his family and friends, the passing of U.S. Army Specialist
16 Ryan Michael Carper; and be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Specialist Ryan Carper as an
19 expression of our sympathy.
