SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Darren Day, who passed away on June 27,
4 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Darren Day was born on August 16, 1962 in Chicago;
6 his parents were William and Shirley Day; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Darren Day was baptized as a member of the Trinity
8 United Church of Christ under the leadership of the Reverend
9 Jeremiah Wright; he attended St. Dorothy's Elementary School
10 and Mount Carmel High School, where he was a member of the 1980
11 Mt. Carmel State Championship Football team; he attended Oxford
12 University and later attended Bowie State University, where he
13 majored in mathematics; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Darren Day was employed with the Sam's
15 Club/Walmart family, where he quickly became a top sales
16 manager; his great love for children led him to work at the
17 Chicago Public Schools for many years; he also coached football
18 at Claremont Academy, leading his team to the city championship
19 many times; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Darren Day is survived by his devoted wife,
21 Tawanna; his children, Mary, Samantha (Davonski) Wilson,

1 Dylan, Donovan, and Trinity; his grandchildren, Nikyia,
2 Chastity, Taylor, Jeremiah, Jamauri, and Jason; his loving
3 parents, William and Shirley; his sister, Teri; and his many
4 loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special
5 friends; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Darren Day will be remembered by all who knew and
7 loved him as an outspoken and fun-loving man who had a heart as
8 pure as gold; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Darren Day; and be it
12 further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Darren Day as an expression of our
15 sympathy.
