SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Dr. Vladimir J. "Wally" Suchy of
4 Hinsdale, who passed away on May 29, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Dr. Suchy was a family practitioner for 50 years;
6 in addition to treating patients, Dr. Suchy was an avid
7 gardener; Dr. Suchy was born in Chicago and grew up on
8 Chicago's south side where he graduated valedictorian at
9 Linbloom High School; he graduated from Dartmouth College and
10 attended Marquette University School of Medicine (now the
11 Medical College of Wisconsin); and
 
12     WHEREAS, Upon graduation from medical school, he was
13 inducted into the United States Navy, where he graduated
14 valedictorian of all naval flight surgeons; as commanding naval
15 surgeon and senior medical officer of the naval air station in
16 Lincoln, Nebraska, Dr. Suchy was responsible for all Naval,
17 Marine, National Guard, and Air Force personnel; while in
18 Lincoln he met his wife of 54 years, Helen; and
 
19     WHEREAS, He competed his naval service in 1955 and took
20 surgical residency at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn; after his
21 residency was completed, Dr. Suchy established his practice in
22 Hillside, where he served patients until his retirement; he was

1 on staff at Adventist LaGrange Hospital and was a Fellow of the
2 American Academy of Family Physicians; he was also a member of
3 the American, Chicago, and Illinois State medical societies;
4 and
 
5     WHEREAS, Dr. Suchy is survived by his wife, Helen; his
6 sister, Olive Suchy; his son, Kim W. (Terri) Suchy; his
7 daughter, Kathryn Rae Suchy; and his grandchildren, Brett and
8 Laura Suchy; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family, friends, and patients, the passing of Dr. Vladimir
12 J. Suchy; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Dr. Vladimir J. Suchy as a symbol of
15 our sympathy.
