SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Robert J. Cook of Macomb, who passed away
4 on May 22, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Robert was born on May 26, 1937; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Robert earned his bachelor's degree in Political
7 Science and his master's degree in Public School Administration
8 from Truman State University and his Ph.D. in Educational
9 Administration from St. Louis University; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Robert had a long and distinguished career in
11 education; he served as a classroom teacher and public school
12 administrator in both rural Missouri and suburban St. Louis,
13 continuing in his career to supervise student teachers and
14 teach educational administration courses at Western Illinois
15 University for 35 years; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Robert also pursued education outside of the
17 classroom, serving as state president of the University
18 Division of the Illinois Education Administration, state
19 president of the Illinois Association of Teacher Educators,
20 Western Illinois University's faculty representative to the
21 Illinois Board of Higher Education, president of the Faculty

1 Council of the College of Education, and Secretary of the
2 Western Illinois University Board of Trustees; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Robert actively served his community; he was
4 president of the McDonough County Labor Council, chairman of
5 the McDonough County Democratic Central Committee, a 32nd
6 Degree Mason, a Paul Harris Fellow, and a Rotarian; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Robert was active in his church, serving as
8 president of the Fellheimer Trust Committee of the Wesley
9 United Methodist Church and as president of the Board of
10 Directors of the Wesley Foundation at Western Illinois
11 University; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Robert was the beloved husband of Evelyn; the
13 loving father of Joe and Amy; the devoted son of the late
14 Robert L. and Josephine Smith Cook; and the fond friend of
15 many; therefore, be it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
17 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
18 his family and friends, the passing of Robert J. Cook; and be
19 it further
 
20     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to the family of Robert J. Cook as an expression of
