SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Nancy (Martin) Foder of West Frankfort,
4 who passed away on March 27, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born March 2, 1948, in Roswell, New
6 Mexico, to Captain John Robert Martin and Virginia Wilkinson;
7 she married Anthony P. Foder on September 7, 1968, in St. John
8 the Baptist Catholic Church in West Frankfort; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Nancy Foder graduated from Southern Illinois
10 University Carbondale in 1971 and immediately began teaching in
11 the West Frankfort school system; at CJHS she taught literature
12 and English from 1973 to 1995 and physical education from 1996
13 to 2005, when she retired; she was loved and respected by both
14 peers and students; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Nancy Foder was a member of Beta Sigma Phi
16 Sorority for 32 years; for the past 20 years, she and her
17 sisters of Xi Alpha Pi had many special memories; she was
18 lectern at St. John the Baptist Church for several years; she
19 was a tremendous supporter of the Redbirds and a member of the
20 Redbird Booster Club; she was also a supporter of the Special
21 Olympics, where she trained and coached special-need athletes;
22 and

1     WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her father, John
2 Robert Martin; her step-father, Robert Otterson; her sister,
3 Linda Martin Geer; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John
4 Martin; and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herschel
5 Wilkinson; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Nancy Foder is survived by her husband, Anthony;
7 her mother, Virginia Otterson; her sons, Ryan and Kyle; her
8 sisters, Sandy Hoskins and husband, Sam, Judy Lewis, Judy
9 Jackson and husband, Tom, Becky Bennett, Brenda Otterson and
10 husband, Michael Vaughan, and Delores Otterson and husband,
11 Paul Lawrence; her brother Robert Otterson II; her
12 sister-in-law, Janet Jones and husband, Andy; and many nieces,
13 nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
15 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16 her family and friends, the passing of Nancy Foder; and be it
17 further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the family of Nancy Foder as a symbol of our
20 sincere sympathy.
