SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Ted Fleming of Peoria, who passed away on
4 September 2, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Ted Fleming was a Life Trustee of Knox College; he
6 was a 1955 graduate of Knox, and was elected a Knox College
7 Trustee in 1985 and a Life Trustee in 2005; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mr Fleming and his family are among Knox College's
9 most generous benefactors and were the principal donors to
10 construction of the T. Fleming Fieldhouse; Ted Fleming
11 graduated from Knox College magna cum laude, with honors for
12 academic and athletic achievement; he was elected to Phi Beta
13 Kappa, earned varsity letters in tennis, swimming and diving,
14 and received the Hunter and Zetterberg awards; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He was an NCAA national finalist in diving in
16 1955; he subsequently earned a second bachelor's degree at
17 Carnegie-Mellon University, where he won the Reinhold-Gould
18 Award for scholastic achievement; and in 1990 he was inducted
19 into the Allan P. Christiansen Knox-Lombard Athletic Hall of
20 Fame; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Ted Fleming owned and operated Fleming Packaging

1 Co., a custom printing company in Peoria founded by his father;
2 he was also active in numerous charitable organizations; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Ted Fleming is survived by his wife, Patricia Roze
4 Fleming; and his children, Ted W. Fleming, Tim Fleming, Tom
5 Fleming, and Teresa Fleming; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 his family and friends, the passing of Ted Fleming; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Ted Fleming as a symbol of our
12 sympathy.
