SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Paul E. Forby of Benton, who passed away
4 on January 1, 2008; Mr. Forby was the father of our colleague,
5 Illinois State Senator Gary Forby; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Paul E. Forby was born December 23, 1924, in
7 Makanda, the son of Homer Forby and Ethel (Maze) Forby; he was
8 raised by his stepfather, Herbert Draper; he married the former
9 Betty June Elkins on August 27, 1943; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He worked as a superintendent for E.T. Simonds for
11 18 years and then worked as a coal miner at Freeman Mine 6 in
12 Waltonville for 19 years and retired at age 62; he was a member
13 of UMWA, Benton Masonic Lodge, and the Shrine Temple and Steel
14 City Baptist Church; he enjoyed golfing and camping with his
15 wife, Betty, in Texas and Florida; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Mr. Forby was preceded in death by his parents;
17 his stepfather, Herbert Draper; and one granddaughter, Melissa
18 Forby; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Paul E. Forby is survived by his wife, Betty June
20 Forby; his three sons, Illinois State Senator Gary Forby and
21 wife, Angie, Mike Forby and wife, Glenda, and Eric Forby and

1 wife, Amy; his eight grandchildren, Lisa Black and husband,
2 Mike, Justin Forby, Jeremy and Mackenzie Fleetwood, Dustin
3 Forby, Melissa Cole and husband, Kevin, and Jake and Zack
4 Forby; his three great-grandchildren, Hanna Forby, and Trey and
5 Chase Cole; his brother, Homer Forby and wife, Niecey; and
6 several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9 his family and friends, the passing of Paul E. Forby; and be it
10 further
 
11     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the family of Paul E. Forby as a symbol of our
13 sincere sympathy.
