SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of James A. Evans of Naperville, who passed
4 away on October 30, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, James A. Evans was born on November 16, 1935 in
6 Chicago; his parents were Andrew Thomas and Alice, nee Lynch,
7 Evans; he married Mirta Diaz on April 27, 1979; and
 
8     WHEREAS, James A. Evans grew up on Chicago's South Side,
9 where he attended St. Brendan Grade School; he graduated from
10 St. Rita High School with the class of 1953; he later attended
11 Chicago City College; and
 
12     WHEREAS, James A. Evans served in the United States Air
13 Force from 1954 to 1962, where he achieved the rank of staff
14 sergeant; and
 
15     WHEREAS, James A. Evans was employed for many years in the
16 food industry, working for companies including Flavor-Kist,
17 Swift, and Calavo until his retirement in 2002; and
 
18     WHEREAS, James A. Evans was a longtime member of St.
19 Raphael Catholic Church in Naperville, where he was a Minister
20 of the Altar and a youth football coach; he was a founding

1 member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Elizabeth Seton Church
2 in Naperville; he was a fourth degree member of the St. Raphael
3 Church Council; he was also actively involved with Boy Scouts
4 of America Troop #510; and
 
5     WHEREAS, James A. Evans was an avid racquetball player for
6 over 20 years at the Naperville Heritage YMCA; and
 
7     WHEREAS, James A. Evans was preceded in death by his
8 parents, Andrew and Alice, and his brother, Joseph; and
 
9     WHEREAS, James A. Evans is survived by his wife, Mirta; his
10 children, James (Beate), Lynn, Christine, Karen, Sonya
11 (Jason), Michael, and Andrew; his grandchildren, Breanna,
12 Madison, Kendall, Paytonn, Brooklyn, Desmond, Ethan, Merrick,
13 and Samantha; his siblings, Andrew, Irene, and John; and his
14 many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends,
15 and neighbors; therefore, be it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
17 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
18 his family and friends, the passing of James A. Evans; and be
19 it further
 
20     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to the family of James A. Evans as an expression of
