SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Illinois State Police officer Brian
4 McMillen of Springfield, who was killed in the line of duty on
5 October 28, 2007; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Brian McMillen was born March 15, 1983 in Decatur;
7 he was the son of Terry and Jane Beyers McMillen; he married
8 Angela Pearce on July 22, 2006 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church
9 in Springfield; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Brian McMillen was a 2001 graduate of Pana High
11 School; he received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice
12 from the University of Illinois at Springfield in 2005, where
13 he graduated at the head of his class; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Brian McMillen was a state police officer with the
15 Illinois State Police, where he served with poise and
16 distinction from February 2007 until his tragic death; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Brian McMillen was a member of St. Aloysius
18 Catholic Church, the Fraternal Order of Police, Trooper Lodge
19 41, Knights of Columbus Council 896 in Pana, and the Security
20 Forces Defenders Association; and

1     WHEREAS, Brian McMillen served with the Air National Guard,
2 where he achieved the rank of technical sergeant; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Brian McMillen enjoyed playing the guitar and
4 basketball, among many other hobbies; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Brian McMillen is survived by his wife, Angela;
6 his parents, Terry and Jane; his siblings, Andrew (Kelly), Adam
7 (Jeanine), Jeremy (Nicole), Julianne (Christopher) Green, and
8 Kelly, Jennifer, Eric, Jared, Wade, and Nicholas McMillen; his
9 nephew, Payton; and his niece, Dorthy; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Brian McMillen will be remembered by all who knew
11 and loved him as an exemplary police officer and as a family
12 man whose love for his wife and family was boundless;
13 therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
15 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16 his family and friends, the passing of Brian McMillen; and be
17 it further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the family of Brian McMillen as an expression of
20 our sympathy.
