SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Jack Shelton of Vienna, who passed away
4 on October 15, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Jack Shelton was born August 17, 1928, in Eldorado
6 to John and Lora (Little) Shelton; he was married to Marylou
7 Browning on December 31, 1953, in Benton; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Jack Shelton was a graduate of Grand Tower Grade
9 School and Murphysboro High School; he was a United States Army
10 veteran, having served during the Korean War, stationed in
11 Tokyo, Japan; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Jack Shelton was a retired telegrapher for the
13 Illinois Central Railroad; for many years he owned and operated
14 Shelton TV Service in Vienna; he was also a licensed amateur
15 radio operator, with the call sign WB9WJW; he enjoyed computer
16 repair, electronics, and reading; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Jack Shelton was preceded in death by his
18 grandson, Jack Edward Shelton II; his brother, Paul Shelton;
19 and a sister, Daphne Wills; he was a longtime deacon and
20 40-year member of Vienna First Christian Church; recently he
21 was a member of Heartland Worship Center in Paducah; and

1     WHEREAS, The passing of Jack Shelton will be deeply felt by
2 his wife, Marylou; his children, Pat Stockdale, Cathy Drobysh,
3 Jan Farmer, Joan Clayton, and Jack Edward Shelton; his
4 sons-in-law, James Stockdale and David Clayton; his
5 daughter-in-law, Toni Shelton; his grandchildren, John, Danny,
6 and Will Stockdale, Melissa, Matthew, and Michael Drobysh,
7 Andy, Natalie, and Julie Farmer, Jill, Amy, and Kelly Clayton,
8 and Alex, Ben, Maggie, and Jake Shelton; and his brother,
9 Herbert Shelton; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12 his family and friends, the passing of Jack Shelton; and be it
13 further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of Jack Shelton as a symbol of our
16 sincere sympathy.
