SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Lori Newsham of Wheaton, who passed away
4 on August 27, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Lori Newsham grew up in Wheaton; she was the
6 second of 10 children and the oldest daughter of A. James and
7 Loretta Newsham; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Lori Newsham attended St. Michael's School, St.
9 Francis High School, and Benedictine University in Lisle, where
10 she studied theology and literature; she then earned her
11 master's degree and later completed the diocese's pastoral
12 leadership program; she was an advocate of lifelong learning,
13 and led by example with her continuous education throughout her
14 life; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Lori Newsham worked as manager of the book
16 department for the Wheaton Religious Gift and Church Supplies
17 for nearly 30 years; she was well-known throughout the Joliet
18 and Chicago areas for her knowledge of the Catholic publishing
19 market, with church professionals and officials with the
20 Christian Booksellers Association and Liturgy Training
21 Publications in Chicago seeking her expertise on a regular
22 basis; and

1     WHEREAS, Lori Newsham was a devoted parishioner of St.
2 Michael's Church in Wheaton, who served on the church's
3 building and design committee and art and environment
4 subcommittee during the rebuilding of the church; she also
5 aided new parishioners to the church, helping them with the
6 Rite of Christian Initiation; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Lori Newsham is survived by her mother and her
8 siblings, Don (Vicky), Terrence (Victoria), Kathleen, and
9 James Newsham, Mary (Joseph) LoMastro, Ruth York, Jacquelyn
10 (James) Howard, and Margaret (Michael) Evans, and Christine
11 Feldy; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14 her family and friends, the passing of Lori Newsham; and be it
15 further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Lori Newsham as an expression of our
18 sympathy.
