SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Les Carl of Canton, who passed away on
4 July 27, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Les Carl was born on June 20, 1937, in Hominy,
6 Oklahoma; his parents were Oliver and Ruby (Spears) Carl; he
7 married Anita Flint on April 17, 1958 in Rapid City, South
8 Dakota; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Les Carl served in the U.S. Air Force for five
10 years; he served as vice president of Canton State Bank from
11 1965 until its closing; he retired from MidAmerica National
12 Bank in Canton in 2000, where he served as vice president; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Les Carl was involved in numerous community
14 organizations; he was a Canton alderman, serving the people of
15 Ward 3 on the Canton City Council from 1977 to 1984; he ran
16 again in 2002 and was elected; He was re-elected in 2006; he
17 served as chairman of the city council's Finance Committee; his
18 letter of resignation was accepted during a city council
19 meeting on July 3, 2007; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Les Carl was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman and
21 enjoyed his Harley motorcycle; he was a member of First Baptist

1 Church of Canton; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Les Carl was preceded in death by his father; and
3 his son, Darrell Carl; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Les Carl is survived by his mother; his son, Jason
5 Carl; his daughters, Renee Carl and Ronda (Steve) Beekman; his
6 brother, Sonny Carl; his sister, JoAnn (Hugh) Hodges; his
7 grandchildren, Rory Carl, Dawn (Matt) Winhold, Nathan Carl and
8 Michael Carl; and his extended family, Eric and Genie Beekman
9 and family Luke, Jake, and Kaylann, and Amy and Paul Reynolds
10 and family Chloe, Hailey and Steve; therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
12 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13 his family and friends, the passing of Les Carl; and be it
14 further
 
15     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to the family of Les Carl as an expression of our
17 sympathy.
