SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Calvin Neunaber of Bethalto, who passed
4 away on July 15, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Calvin Neunaber was born on October 31, 1924 in
6 Meadowbrook; his parents were John F. and Matilda (Klopmeier)
7 Neunaber; he married the former Mary K. Adams on September 23,
8 1951 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Calvin Neunaber was in the U.S. Army 106th
10 Infantry Division, serving his country from 1942 to 1945; he
11 was active at the Battle of the Bulge and was a P.O.W. during
12 the Second World War; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Calvin Neunaber was the owner of the Alt-Wood Fuel
14 Company for 35 years until his retirement in 1981; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Calvin Neunaber was a lifelong member of the Zion
16 Lutheran Church in Bethalto, where he was involved with the
17 Men's Club, the church's sausage supper, and the church choir;
18 he was a member of the Bethalto American Legion Post 214, where
19 he was a past commander and assisted with many military
20 funerals; he was a founding member of the Bethalto Rotary Club,
21 where he served on the Easter Egg, Halloween parade, and

1 homecoming committees, and where he received the Paul Harris
2 Fellowship; he was a volunteer fireman and was on the St. Louis
3 Regional Airport Commission Board for 25 years; he served Meals
4 on Wheels, drove the Senior Citizen bus, and volunteered at
5 Alton Memorial Hospital; and he loved to travel; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Calvin Neunaber was preceded in death by his
7 parents; his wife; and his siblings, Harold (Tunney) Neunaber,
8 Raymond Neunaber, Dorothy Miller, and Josephine Stanton; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Calvin Neunaber is survived by his children, Kathi
10 Neunaber, Steve and Josie Neunaber, Eric and Vicki Neunaber,
11 and Susan Neunaber; his grandchildren, Brendan, Scott, and
12 Emily; and several nieces, nephews, and friends; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Calvin Neunaber's dedication and service to
14 others and his community endeared him to his family members,
15 friends, and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their
16 lives in ways they will never forget; therefore, be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
18 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
19 his family and friends, the passing of Calvin Neunaber; and be
20 it further
 
21     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
