SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Thomas W. Saylor Sr. of Winfield, who
4 died on July 8, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Thomas Saylor was born June 29, 1913, in
6 Naperville; he was married on June 30, 1945, to Laurene (nee
7 Higgins); and
 
8     WHEREAS, He worked for Crane Company in Chicago and was an
9 owner and operator of Winfield Fuel and Material, where he
10 retired in 1974; he was past board member of Geneva Community
11 Hospital, a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary, and had a 25-year
12 perfect attendance record in both the Sun City and West Chicago
13 Rotary Clubs, serving as treasurer in Sun City; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was treasurer of Sun City United Way for three
15 years and was instrumental in the purchase of the Sun City
16 North Golf Course, where he was a charter member and president
17 of the Men's Golf Club for one year; he also served as
18 treasurer of his condo association in Sun City for 15 years; he
19 was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Winfield, the
20 Young at Hearts Club, 3rd Order of St. Francis, and Fourth
21 Degree member and Past Grand Knight of Father Gaffney Council
22 1555 Knights of Columbus; and

1     WHEREAS, Thomas Saylor Sr. was preceded in death by his
2 parents, Henry and Nettie Saylor; and five sisters and two
3 brothers; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Thomas Saylor Sr. is survived by his wife of 62
5 years, Laurene; his children, Thomas Jr. (Bonnie), and Barbara
6 (Hank) Dunlap; his grandchildren, Thomas III (Emily) Saylor,
7 Jennifer Saylor, Hank Jr. (Glynnis) Dunlap, and David (Paula)
8 Dunlap; and his great-grandchildren, Nathan, Beth, Rachel,
9 Josh and John; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12 his family and friends, the passing of Thomas W. Saylor Sr.;
13 and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of Thomas W. Saylor Sr. as a symbol of
16 our sympathy.
