SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Specialist Jeremiah Costello of Bunker
4 Hill, who was killed in Iraq on June 2, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Spc. Costello was posthumously awarded the Purple
6 Heart Medal and the Bronze Star for his bravery in service; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Spc. Costello was born in Jerseyville on June 28,
8 1984; his parents were Larry and Debra Costello; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Spc. Costello grew up in Carlinville, but moved to
10 Greenfield during his freshman year in high school; he earned a
11 GED after leaving Greenfield High School during his junior
12 year; he enlisted in the U.S. Army in July 2005, trained at
13 Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and was stationed at Fort Bliss,
14 Texas, where he was assigned to the Army's 5th Battalion, 82nd
15 Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry
16 Division; his unit was deployed to Iraq in November 2006; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Spc. Costello will be remembered by all who knew
18 him as a cheerful, mild-mannered person who loved his daughter
19 more than anything in the world; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Spc. Costello is survived by his daughter, Lillian

1 Angel Costello; his mother, Debra Costello; his brothers, Joel
2 Rhodes, Darrell Titus, and Yancy and Ken Costello; his
3 grandparents, Donald and Mary Jane Wilson, and Amelia Burger;
4 and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews;
5 therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 his family and friends, the passing of Specialist Jeremiah
9 Costello; and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Specialist Jeremiah
11 Costello and his willingness to serve his country, which led to
12 him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Specialist Jeremiah Costello as a
15 symbol of our respect and sympathy .
