SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express
3 their sincere condolences to the family and friends of United
4 States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Jesse De La Torre, who was
5 killed in action in Iraq on April 16, 2007; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Jesse De La Torre attended East
7 Aurora High School, graduating with the class of 1998; he was
8 at the top of his class academically; he played the saxophone
9 and excelled at playing improvisational jazz with skills
10 reminiscent of much older musicians; he also participated in
11 choir, drama, and the Naval Junior ROTC; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Jesse De La Torre enlisted in the United States
13 Marine Corps in 2005; he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion out
14 of Twentynine Palms, California; his unit was deployed in
15 January 2007 to fight in Iraq; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Jesse De La Torre was awarded the
17 National Defense Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Medal;
18 he was a brave and patriotic young man; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Jesse De La Torre will be remembered by his family
20 and friends as a kind, happy, and deeply spiritual person who
21 would do anything for anyone; and

1     WHEREAS, Jesse De La Torre is survived by his parents,
2 Aureliano and Raquel De La Torre; his sister, Corina Padilla;
3 and his half-siblings; therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
5 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that that we mourn, along
6 with his family and friends, the passing of United States
7 Marine Corps Lance Corporal Jesse De La Torre; and be it
8 further
 
9     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of United States Marine
10 Corps Lance Corporal Jesse De La Torre and his willingness to
11 serve our country, which led to him making the ultimate
12 sacrifice; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Lance Corporal Jesse De La Torre as
15 an expression of our sympathy.
