SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Larry A. Johnson of Bartonville, who
4 passed away on April 15, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Larry A. Johnson was born on July 17, 1935, in
6 Farmington, to Kenneth C. and Merle H. (Record) Johnson Sr.; he
7 married Phyllis J. Mohn on March 18, 1956, in Peoria; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Larry Johnson was co-owner and vice president of
9 Kenny Johnson Moving and Storage; he was a Democratic Precinct
10 Committeeman for Limestone Eighth Precinct from 1962 to 2004;
11 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in
12 1964, 1968, 1972, 1976, and 1980, and served as chairman of the
13 Peoria County Democratic Central Committee in 1970 and the
14 Democratic State Central Committee in 1982; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Larry Johnson served on the Peoria County Board
16 from 1974 to 1982 and was instrumental in the founding and
17 development of Alpha Park Library and the Rock Island Trail; he
18 was a past president of the Alpha Park Library Board, the Heart
19 of Illinois Sierra Club, and a past member of the Bartonville
20 Village Board and Westminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria; he
21 was dedicated to his family, the community in which he lived,
22 and to his dogs, which he loved dearly; and

1     WHEREAS, Larry Johnson was preceded in death by his
2 parents; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Larry A. Johnson is survived by his wife, Phyllis;
4 his children, Perry (Pamela) Johnson, Lori (William) Tockes,
5 Denise Johnson, Scott (Lori) Johnson, and Todd Johnson; his
6 grandchildren, Rosemary, Ben, Seth, Alexa and Joel; his
7 brothers, Harlan (Shirley) Johnson and Kenneth (Sandy) C.
8 Johnson Jr.; and his sisters, Sylvia (Harris) Sachau and Janet
9 (Bill) Miller; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12 his family and friends, the passing of Larry A. Johnson; and be
13 it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of Larry A. Johnson as a symbol of our
16 sympathy.
