SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Robert Francis Bernard of Burr Ridge, who
4 passed away on February 2, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Robert Francis Bernard was born in Chicago on May
6 23, 1961; he was the co-founder of Whittman-Hart in 1984, his
7 information technology consulting firm named after characters
8 in the movie "The Paper Chase"; he was KPMG's High Tech
9 Entrepreneur of the Year in 1992, Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur
10 of the Year in 1997, and Crain's Chicago Business Executive of
11 the Year in 1999; he was serving as CEO of Whittman-Hart, a
12 successor company, with offices in nine U.S. cities at the time
13 of his passing; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He supported Children's Memorial Hospital, and
15 Marklund Foundation; he was a director of APAC Corporation; he
16 was involved in the Hinsdale/Burr Ridge community, serving as a
17 coach for his children's soccer program, T-ball and basketball
18 teams, and participating with his daughter in Indian
19 Princesses; he was an active member of the Clarendon Hills
20 Community Presbyterian Church; and
 
21     WHEREAS, In 2000 he allowed his corporate jet to be used to
22 transport a cardiac surgeon enroute to harvest a heart for a

1 transplant; the heart was harvested, transplanted, and the
2 child's life was saved; and
 
3     WHEREAS, His passions included Chicago sports, especially
4 the beloved Chicago Cubs; he was an avid golfer and member of
5 Edgewood Valley Country Club; and he was a participant in the
6 Chicago Marathon; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Robert Francis Bernard is survived by his wife,
8 Elisa Fryer Bernard; his children, Kendal Elisabeth and Bryce
9 Robert; his parents, Sandra and Charles Homola; his sister,
10 Robin (Bill) Lewis; his grandmother, Mildred Toberman; his
11 aunt, Sharon Toberman; his niece, Brittany Lewis; and his
12 nephews, Billy and Bradley Lewis and Nolan Thomas Fryer;
13 therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
15 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16 his family and friends, the passing of Robert Francis Bernard;
17 and be it further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the family of Robert Francis Bernard as a symbol
20 of our sympathy.
