SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
ILCON Art. XIII, Sec. 9 new

    Proposes to amend the General Provisions Article of the Illinois Constitution to provide that a marriage can only be between one man and one woman. Proposes any relationship between persons of the same sex in a civil union, domestic partnership, or other similar same sex relationship shall not be valid or recognized in Illinois. Effective upon being declared adopted.

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
5 CONCURRING HEREIN, that there shall be submitted to the
6 electors of the State for adoption or rejection at the general
7 election next occurring at least 6 months after the adoption of
8 this resolution a proposition to add Section 9 to Article XIII
9 of the Illinois Constitution as follows:

GENERAL PROVISIONS

12     (ILCON Art. XIII, Sec. 9 new)
13 SECTION 9. SAME SEX MARRIAGE
14     Only marriage between one man and one woman shall be valid
15 or recognized in Illinois. The uniting of persons of the same
16 sex in a civil union, domestic partnership, or other similar
17 same sex relationship shall not be valid or recognized in
18 Illinois.

SCHEDULE
20     This Constitutional Amendment takes effect upon being
21 declared adopted in accordance with Section 7 of the Illinois
22 Constitutional Amendment Act.
