AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1850

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1850 on page 1, by
3 replacing line 5 with the following:
4 "Sections 3-680 and 3-681 as follows:
 
5     (625 ILCS 5/3-680 new)
6     Sec. 3-680. U.S. Army Veteran license plates.
7     (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the
8 Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and applications
9 made in the form prescribed by the Secretary of State, may
10 issue U.S. Army Veteran license plates to residents of Illinois
11 who meet eligibility requirements prescribed by the Secretary
12 of State. The special U.S. Army Veteran plate issued under this
13 Section shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the
14 first division, motorcycles, and motor vehicles of the second
15 division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued
16 under this Section shall expire according to the staggered
17 multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this

2     (b) The design, color, and format of the plates shall be
3 wholly within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The
4 Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be
5 issued as vanity or personalized plates in accordance with
6 Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The plates are not required to
7 designate "Land Of Lincoln", as prescribed in subsection (b) of
8 Section 3-412 of this Code. The Secretary shall prescribe the
9 eligibility requirements and, in his or her discretion, shall
10 approve and prescribe stickers or decals as provided under
11 Section 3-412.
12     (c) An applicant shall be charged a $15 fee for original
13 issuance in addition to the applicable registration fee. This
14 additional fee shall be deposited into the Secretary of State
15 Special License Plate Fund. For each registration renewal
16 period, a $2 fee, in addition to the applicable registration
17 fee, shall be charged and shall be deposited into the Secretary
18 of State Special License Plate Fund."; and
