1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Sections 3-664 and 3-665 as follows:
 
6     (625 ILCS 5/3-664 new)
7     Sec. 3-664. Iraq Campaign license plates.
8     (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the
9 Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and applications
10 made in the form prescribed by the Secretary of State, may
11 issue Iraq Campaign license plates to residents of Illinois who
12 have earned the Iraq Campaign Medal from the United States
13 Armed Forces. The special Iraq Campaign plates issued under
14 this Section shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the
15 first division, motorcycles, and motor vehicles of the second
16 division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued
17 under this Section shall expire according to the staggered
18 multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this
19 Code.
20     (b) The design, color, and format of the plates shall be
21 wholly within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The
22 Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be
23 issued as vanity plates or personalized in accordance with

1 Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The plates are not required to
2 designate "Land Of Lincoln", as prescribed in subsection (b) of
3 Section 3-412 of this Code. The Secretary shall, in his or her
4 discretion, approve and prescribe stickers or decals as
5 provided under Section 3-412.
6     (c) An applicant shall be charged a $15 fee for original
7 issuance in addition to the applicable registration fee. This
8 additional fee shall be deposited into the Secretary of State
9 Special License Plate Fund.

11     Sec. 3-665. Afghanistan Campaign license plates.
12     (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the
13 Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and applications
14 made in the form prescribed by the Secretary of State, may
15 issue Afghanistan Campaign license plates to residents of
16 Illinois who have earned the Afghanistan Campaign Medal from
17 the United States Armed Forces. The special Afghanistan
18 Campaign plates issued under this Section shall be affixed only
19 to passenger vehicles of the first division, motorcycles, and
20 motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than
21 8,000 pounds. Plates issued under this Section shall expire
22 according to the staggered multi-year procedure established by
23 Section 3-414.1 of this Code.
