1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Section 3-664 as follows:
 
6     (625 ILCS 5/3-664 new)
7     Sec. 3-664. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome license plates.
8     (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of an application made in
9 the form prescribed by the Secretary, may issue special
10 registration plates designated as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
11 license plates. The special plates issued under this Section
12 shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the first
13 division and motor vehicles of the second division weighing not
14 more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued under this Section shall
15 expire according to the multi-year procedure established by
16 Section 3-414.1 of this Code.
17     (b) The design and color of the plates is wholly within the
18 discretion of the Secretary. The Secretary may allow the plates
19 to be issued as vanity or personalized plates under Section
20 3-405.1 of the Code. The Secretary shall prescribe stickers or
21 decals as provided under Section 3-412 of this Code.
22     (c) An applicant for the special plate shall be charged a
23 $45 fee for original issuance in addition to the appropriate

1 registration fee. This fee shall be deposited into the
2 Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund, to be used by
3 the Secretary to help defray the administrative processing
4 costs.
5     For each registration renewal period, a $32 fee, in
6 addition to the appropriate registration fee, shall be charged.
7 This fee shall be deposited into the Secretary of State Special
8 License Plate Fund.
