SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

    Amends the Pest and Predatory Animal Control Act. Provides that the Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources, shall promulgate rules concerning the control of firewood importation into the State with special attention to controlling the infestation of insect pests, including the emerald ash borer. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning health.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Pest and Predatory Animal Control Act is
5 amended by changing Section 1 and by adding Section 5 as
6 follows:
 
7     (410 ILCS 90/1)  (from Ch. 8, par. 231)
8     Sec. 1. The Department of Agriculture of the State of
9 Illinois is authorized to enter into an agreement with the
10 Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife, United States
11 Department of the Interior, covering cooperation with funds,
12 facilities and personnel in conducting a program which will
13 prevent or minimize the economic depredations of wild and feral
14 animals and commensal rodents, insects, starlings and bird
15 pests, abate their nuisances and reduce the transmission of
16 disease to persons, domestic animals, and wild life, and
17 habitat.

21 effective date of this amendatory Act of the 95th General
22 Assembly, the Department of Agriculture shall promulgate rules

1 concerning the control of firewood importation into the State
2 with special attention to controlling the infestation of insect
3 pests, including the emerald ash borer. The Department of
4 Agriculture may collaborate with the Department of Natural
5 Resources to promulgate the rules required under this Section.
 
6     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
7 becoming law.
