HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to honor our friend and colleague,
4 Illinois State Representative Patricia Reid Lindner, for her
5 many years of dedicated service to the people of the State of
6 Illinois; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Illinois State Representative Patricia Reid
8 Lindner is a resident of Sugar Grove Township and serves the
9 people of the 50th Legislative District as their State
10 Representative in Springfield; she serves as a member of the
11 House Republican Leadership team and serves as Assistant
12 Minority Leader; she currently serves on several key State
13 committees, including Judiciary II-Criminal Law, Adoption
14 Reform, Computer Technology, Environmental Health, Labor,
15 Gaming, and Homeland Security; she was appointed to serve on
16 the Ethics Commission and the Juvenile Justice Transition Team;
17 she is also a member of the Conference of Women Legislators,
18 the Fire Caucus, the Environmental Caucus, and the Historic
19 Preservation Caucus; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Representative Lindner is a graduate of East
21 Aurora High School; she earned her Bachelor of Science degree
22 in speech from Northwestern University and her Master of
23 Science degree in political science from the University of

1 Colorado; she then earned her Juris Doctor degree from Northern
2 Illinois University; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Before entering the legislature, Representative
4 Lindner served her community as a family law attorney; she
5 previously served as a court-appointed attorney for the Kane
6 County Juvenile Court and served as an Assistant Public
7 Defender; she also served on the Kane County Family Law
8 Committee for several years and served as chairperson of the
9 Kane County Bar Association Legislative Committee; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Representative Lindner has a lengthy history of
11 involvement in the governmental and political processes,
12 dating back to her work in five congressional campaigns for her
13 mother, former U.S. Congresswoman Charlotte T. Reid; she is a
14 life-long Republican and an active member of her community; she
15 has been a member of the Aurora Republican Women's Club since
16 1968 and is a precinct committeeman in Sugar Grove Township;
17 and
 
18     WHEREAS, Representative Lindner has served her community
19 further through her involvement in numerous civic
20 organizations; she has served on the Family Counseling Board of
21 Directors, the Women in Management Board of Directors, and the
22 YWCA Board of Directors; she has held membership in the
23 American Association of University Women, the Women's

1 Development Council of Waubonsee Community College, the League
2 of Women Voters, the Child Welfare Society, and the Paramount
3 Arts Endowment Committee; she also provided legal aid for the
4 YWCA for 10 years; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Numerous organizations have honored
6 Representative Lindner for her dedicated service to this State,
7 including the Illinois Library Association, the Boys and Girls
8 Clubs of Dundee Township, the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual
9 Assault, the Community Crisis Center, Ag Tech at Teeple Barn,
10 the Illinois Farm Bureau, and the Illinois Groundwater
11 Association; she was a recipient of the Jim McNish Advocacy
12 Award from the DeKalb, Kane-South and Kendall Counties Chapter
13 of the National Alliance on Mental Illness; she was also
14 awarded the National Charlotte Danstrom Award in Government and
15 the Women of Achievement Award from the Northern Fox Valley
16 Chapter of Women in Management; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Representative Lindner and her husband, George,
18 have been married 44 years and are the proud parents of four
19 children and seven grandchildren; she is proud to be a
20 life-long resident of Kane County; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Representative Lindner's great dedication to the
22 safety and welfare of the people of the State of Illinois and
23 her willingness to serve this State as an attorney, an

1 advocate, and a State official have made her a role model to
2 the members of this august body and to the citizens of this
3 State; therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 honor our colleague, Illinois State Representative Patricia
7 Reid Lindner, for her service and dedication to this State and
8 wish her continued prosperity and happiness in the future; and
9 be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to Representative Lindner as a symbol of our esteem
12 and respect.
