HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Commander James
4 Hession on the occasion of his retirement from the Antioch
5 Police Department on July 5, 2008 after 28 years of dedicated
6 service; and
 
7     WHEREAS, James Hession was born in Chicago on February 20,
8 1955; he moved to Antioch as a child and has lived there ever
9 since; his father was a former Lake County Sheriff's Deputy;
10 and
 
11     WHEREAS, James Hession enlisted in the United States Army
12 in November of 1975, serving his country with pride and
13 distinction in the Military Police; he completed his tour of
14 duty in Panama in November of 1979 and was honorably
15 discharged; he was the recipient of the Good Conduct medal in
16 recognition of his service; and
 
17     WHEREAS, James Hession has had a long and distinguished
18 career in law enforcement; he began his career with the Antioch
19 Police Department on February 18, 1980; he rose quickly through
20 the ranks of the department, being promoted to Corporal on
21 October 17, 1988, followed by a promotion to Sergeant on May
22 20, 1991; he was promoted to Commander In Charge Of Support

1 Services on June 12, 2006, a position he remained in until his
2 retirement; he also served as a Juvenile Officer, a Training
3 Officer, a Special Events Officer, a Teen Court Coordinator,
4 and a Shop With a Cop Coordinator during his tenure; and
 
5     WHEREAS, James Hession received a letter of commendation
6 from the Antioch Police Department for his role in apprehending
7 a murder suspect in May of 2008, a testament to Commander
8 Hession's skill and dedication to his profession; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Following his retirement, James Hession will
10 hopefully have the time to pursue his favorite hobbies,
11 particularly fishing, reading, and cooking; he will also have
12 more time to spend with his wonderful family, namely his wife,
13 Clovia, and his daughter, Amy; therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16 congratulate Commander James Hession on the occasion of his
17 retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the
18 future; and be it further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to Commander James Hession as a symbol of our esteem
21 and respect.
