HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate the players and
4 coaches of the Mason City Illini Central Cougars 7th grade boys
5 basketball team on the occasion of winning the 2008 7th grade
6 Class 2A State Championship; and
 
7     WHEREAS, The Mason City Illini Central Cougars 7th grade
8 boys basketball team's road to victory began with defeating
9 Chester East Lincoln and Peoria Hollis for the Regional crown
10 and defeating Heyworth for the Sectional crown, leading the
11 Cougars to the Class 2A Tournament; the team continued its
12 streak with a 51-39 victory against Mendon Unity and a 48-31
13 victory against Springfield Blessed Sacrament; going strong
14 into the title game, the Cougars defeated the Nokomis Braves by
15 a score of 50-29 to win the 2008 7th grade Class 2A State
16 Championship, ending their season with a phenomenal 24-3
17 record; and
 
18     WHEREAS, The Illini Central Cougars broke several
19 tournament, single game, and individual records on the road to
20 victory during the 2007-2008 basketball season; and
 
21     WHEREAS, The players on the Illini Central Cougars 7th
22 grade boys basketball team are Dalton Damm, Cole Koeppen, Ean

1 Albers, Spencer Piper, Daniel Maxon, Kyle Sims, Jordan
2 Bradshaw, Duncan McClure, Justin Onken, Willy Nuendorf, Noah
3 Kirby, Connor Martin, Jared Entwistle, Corey Norton, and Grant
4 Bale; the Illini Central Cougars' coaches are Coach Heyen,
5 Coach Kreiling, and Coach Hernan and the Cougars' manager is
6 Riley Means; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9 we congratulate the players and coaches of the Mason City
10 Illini Central Cougars 7th grade boys basketball team on the
11 occasion of winning the 2008 7th grade Class 2A State
12 Championship and wish them continued success and happiness in
13 the future; and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to Illini Central Cougars Coaches Heyen, Kreiling,
16 and Hernan and Illini Central Middle School principal Patrick
17 Martin as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
