HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Reverend Arthur J.
4 Gass, Sr., Pastor of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in
5 Waukegan, on his twentieth anniversary of pastoral ministry;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, Reverend Gass has been the Pastor of Mt. Zion
8 Missionary Baptist Church since June of 1987; under his
9 leadership the church membership has grown and a new building
10 was dedicated in March of 1993; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Reverend Gass is the President of the Black
12 Chamber of Commerce of Lake County, Incorporated; he is a Past
13 President of the North Shore Baptist Ministers Alliance; he is
14 a former Secretary of the North Shore Pastor's Conference; he
15 is the former First Vice-Moderator of the New Era District
16 Association; he is the former Financial Secretary and Budget
17 Director and 3rd Vice President of Finance for the Young
18 Pastors and Ministers Department of the National Baptist
19 Convention, USA, Incorporated; and he has served as Chairman of
20 the People's Voice Advisory Board affiliated with the People's
21 Voice newspaper; and
 
22     WHEREAS, Reverend Gass is a member of the NAACP; he is a

1 member of the Board of Directors of Daisy's Resource Center;
2 and he is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Lake
3 County Community Action Project (CAP); and
 
4     WHEREAS, Reverend Gass is currently pursuing his degree in
5 religious studies from the North Shore Bible College and
6 Theological Seminary in Zion; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Reverend Gass will be honored with a banquet on
8 August 25, 2007; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11 congratulate Reverend Gass on his twentieth anniversary of
12 pastoral ministry to the congregation of Mt. Zion Missionary
13 Baptist Church; and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to Reverend Arthur Gass, Sr., as a symbol of our
16 respect and admiration.
