HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Harold H.
4 Hensold Jr. of Olympia Fields, who passed away on June 24,
5 2007; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Harold Hensold was born March 3, 1922 in Sidell;
7 he was a graduate of Joliet Township High School in 1939 and
8 graduated from the University of Illinois-Urbana in 1943; he
9 married Amy Bateman in 1944; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Harold Hensold was a member of the University of
11 Illinois Reserve Officers Training Corps and was called up by
12 the United States Army; he served as an Army Reserve officer in
13 the Panama Canal Zone in World War II; he joined the accounting
14 firm of Arthur Young & Co. (later Ernst & Young) in Chicago in
15 1949, retiring in 1982; from 1982 to 1991, he taught and served
16 as Associate Dean for the College of Business Administration at
17 the University of Illinois-Chicago; he was active in many
18 professional and non-profit organizations, including the
19 Illinois CPA Society, the Government Finance Officers
20 Association, La Rabida Children's Hospital, the Boy Scouts of
21 America, and the Warren & Clara Cole Foundation; and
 
22     WHEREAS, State Representative Al Riley and Mr. Hensold met

1 while both were involved in scouting as members of the Calumet
2 Council Executive Board and the Michigamea Lodge, Order of the
3 Arrow; they were longtime teammates in canoe racing,
4 participating in races such as the Chicago Flatwater Classic,
5 the Chicago River New Year's Day Race, and seven times in the
6 Mid America Canoe Race; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He was a charter member of Faith United Protestant
8 Church in Park Forest; he was an avid wilderness canoeist,
9 organizing trips for over 30 years with the church youth group,
10 the Boy Scouts, and fellow enthusiasts; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Harold Hensold is survived by his wife Amy; his
12 children, Sally Hundley (John), Jack (Debra Zabel), Ted (Daya
13 Goldschlag), Nancy, and Richard (Diane Plante); his eight
14 grandchildren; his brother Bill (Mary); and his sister, Jean
15 Hull (Harold); therefore, be it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Harold
19 H. Hensold Jr.; and be it further
 
20     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to the family of Harold H. Hensold Jr. as a symbol of
22 our sympathy.
