HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Alan L. Coleman on
4 the occasion of his retirement as the Regional Superintendent
5 of Schools of the Fulton-Schuyler Educational Service Region;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, Alan L. Coleman was born in Fulton County; he
8 attended elementary school in Ipava, as well as Eldorado School
9 and Industry Grade School; he graduated from Canton High School
10 in 1964; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Alan L. Coleman earned his Bachelor of Arts degree
12 from Ottawa University of Kansas and his Master of Science in
13 Mathematics from Western Illinois University; he also earned an
14 Illinois High School Teaching Certificate and two
15 Administrative Certificates; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Alan L. Coleman worked in education for 24 years
17 as a mathematics teacher in Springfield, Cuba, and Canton; he
18 has served as the Mathematics Department Chairperson and as
19 Assistant Principal at Canton High School; in 1995 he became
20 the Assistant Regional Superintendent for the Fulton-Schuyler
21 Educational Service Region; and he was elected as the Regional
22 Superintendent in 2002; and

1     WHEREAS, Alan L. Coleman is married to Daryle Coleman, who
2 retired this year as Principal of Cuba Junior/Senior High
3 School; he is the father of three grown children, Georgeann,
4 Tony, and Casey; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Alan L. Coleman has earned the respect and
6 admiration of those students, educators, and administrators he
7 encountered during his career in education; as Regional
8 Superintendent, he was a thoughtful and industrious leader in
9 public education who worked on behalf of every school district
10 and student in his region; therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13 congratulate Alan L. Coleman on his retirement and wish him
14 continued success and happiness in the future; and be it
15 further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to Alan L. Coleman as a symbol of our esteem and
18 respect.
