HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Pastor Jerry Short
4 of the First Church of the Nazarene in Danville, as he moves on
5 to a new position as assistant district superintendent of the
6 Chicago Central District; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Pastor Short will work with churches from Watseka
8 to Danville and from Paxton to Gilman; he will visit each
9 church once a quarter, meet with church boards, and serve as
10 interim pastor when necessary; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Pastor Short has served in the ministry for fifty
12 years, including twenty in Danville; he has seen changed lives
13 and the community come together to help others, including
14 involvement with the Woman's Care Clinic; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Pastor Short and his wife were blessed with a
16 farewell gift by their congregation, the renovation of their
17 home in nearby Catlin; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Pastor Short has also served in New Castle,
19 Indiana, Port Huron, Michigan and Adrian, Michigan, and
20 Lawrence, Indiana during his pastoral service; and

1     WHEREAS, Pastor Short and his wife recently received the
2 Distinguished Service Award from the Nazarene district
3 assembly; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Pastor Short is involved with the Rotary Club, the
5 Salvation Army advisory board, the CRIS elder abuse board, the
6 HALO Project, and the area Ministerial Association; he works
7 with the church district authorizing board and the ministers'
8 credential board; and he is a past member of the Olivet
9 Nazarene University board of trustees; therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12 congratulate Pastor Jerry Short and his wife as they move into
13 this new position and wish them continued success in the
14 ministry; and be it further
 
15     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to Pastor Jerry Short as a symbol of our respect and
17 esteem.
