HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois wish to congratulate Metropolitan Family
4 Services on the occasion of its 150th anniversary, which will
5 be celebrated with a series of events throughout 2007; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Metropolitan Family Services is at the heart of
7 Chicago's city and suburban communities responding to the needs
8 of families since February 16, 1857; through seven major
9 community centers, Metropolitan Family Services serves
10 low-income and working-poor families facing a dynamic and
11 ever-changing environment; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Metropolitan Family Services provides numerous
13 programs and services such as Child and Youth Development,
14 School-based Services and Violence Prevention, Counseling and
15 Mental Health Services, Child Welfare, Employee Assistance
16 Programs, Financial Literacy Services, Legal Aid Bureau,
17 Services for Older Adults and Their Families, Community
18 Development, and Social Policy; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Metropolitan Family Services has 570 full-time
20 professional staff members dedicated to providing quality
21 services to families from southwest Cook and DuPage counties to
22 Evanston and Skokie; they serve nearly 60,000 families and

1 individuals, as diverse as the communities they live in, with
2 hundreds of thousands more benefitting from Metropolitan
3 Family Service's social policy and advocacy efforts; and
 
4     WHEREAS, 85 cents of every dollar received goes toward
5 direct client services; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Metropolitan Family Services is currently led by
7 President and Chief Executive Officer Richard L. Jones;
8 therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11 congratulate the Metropolitan Family Services on the occasion
12 of their sesquicentennial anniversary; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to Richard L. Jones and Metropolitan Family Services.
