HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem
3 officially opened January 27, 1902 and began its long-standing
4 tradition of foresight and excellence; and
 
5     WHEREAS, The Shaare Zedek Medical Center derives much of
6 its support from the generosity of hundreds of Illinois
7 citizens and thousands of other Americans and people from
8 around the world; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Shaare Zedek is known as "the Hospital with a
10 Heart" for its century-long reputation for treating patients
11 rather than just their illnesses; for an extra dimension of
12 caring, particularly with regard to its nurses; and for its
13 adherence to traditional Jewish precepts and values; and
 
14     WHEREAS, This endearing term has been adopted by many of
15 the thousands of patients who enter through the "Gates of
16 Righteousness" (the English translation of the biblical phrase
17 Shaare Zedek); Shaare Zedek and its affiliation with Ben-Gurion
18 University of the Negev's Faculty of Health Sciences provides
19 patients with the highest level of medical expertise; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Kathy Posner of Chicago has been indefatigable in
21 her efforts on behalf of the Midwest Region of the American

1 Committee of Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, giving
2 of her time, of her talent, and of her treasure; and
 
3     WHEREAS, The Midwest Region of the American Committee of
4 Shaare Zedek Medical Center has chosen to call these great
5 efforts to the attention of her fellow citizens, her family,
6 and her friends at a civic luncheon, fittingly on Valentine's
7 Day at the Hilton Chicago; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10 wish to congratulate Kathy R. Posner on her many
11 accomplishments and for her current recognition as a recipient
12 of the Shaare Zedek "Heart of Gold" Award; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That Wednesday, February 14th, 2007 be
14 designated as a day of tribute to Kathy Posner, not only for
15 her efforts on behalf of this great humanitarian institution,
16 but also in recognition of her labors and activities on behalf
17 of a score of other institutions, agencies and civic
18 committees; and be it further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to Kathy Posner as a symbol of our respect.
